“I had been talking with Kat Carey of Darkroomfoto, based here in San Antonio, Texas, about doing another shoot together. Our conversations surrounding the creative direction changed the closer we got to the set date.

It was challenging for me deciding what we should focus on, but we went for it. I pulled clothes from my closet, borrowed some from my favorite local vintage shop, and in a time of experiencing grief as well as joy, we moved forward with an editorial shoot that was as close to what I was feeling the day of as possible. There is a delicate balance between being soft and firm—grounded. I’m glad we did this shoot.”
